Did you
know that the Hopatcong Planning Board is considering the
approval of a high density senior housing development that will be
located between Hopatcong Heights and Sparta-Stanhope Road? It is the
single largest development ever proposed for the Borough of Hopatcong.
Did you know
that the development will have an
access road onto Durban Avenue between Durban Avenue School and Hopatcong High
School and another onto Sparta-Stanhope Rd?
Did you know
that this will consist of 662 units
of apartments, townhouses and single family dwellings?
Did you know
that it will add an estimated 1,200 or more people to the residency of
Hopatcong?
Did you know
that this area was requested by our Mayor to be excluded from the Department of
Environmental Protection Agency's New Jersey Highlands Act?
Did you know
that the builder's Environmental expert testified that the builder intends to
CLEAR CUT the tract? (Clear cutting means that they intend to cut down
ALL trees)
Did you know
that construction access has already been established?
Did you know
that test wells have already been dug?
Did you know
that perc tests have already been performed?
Did you know
that many hundreds of trees have already been plowed down?
Did you know
that there are currently 6,193 homes in Hopatcong? If we allow the
building of an additional 662 dwellings (modified down from 730) that is over a
10% increase in housing. If 1,250 people occupy those dwellings it will
increase our population by approximately 10%. And not all citizens of
Hopatcong are even aware that all of this is happening!!!!
